There is an entry in the OPR for a Gilbert Anderson baptised 13 April 1756 at Laigh Merkland in the parish of Sorn, son of John Anderson and Jean Clark. Possibly a bit too early to be the above Gilbert Anderson.

Jean married William Craig (b. Bankend Farm, Avondale, Lanarkshire on 26 May 1787), son of Alexander Craig and Elizabeth Craig. They were proclaimed to be married in the parish of Avondale on 11 September 1830 and in the parish of Muirkirk on 23 September 1830.
Jean and William are at Bankend Farm on the 1841, 1851, 1861 and 1881 Census. Jean is at Bankend Farm on the 1871 Census and in Strathaven on the 1881 Census.
Jean died at Kirk Street, Strathaven on 17 February 1883.

Hugh never married. He is at Townhead Farm on the 1841, 1851, 1861 and 1871 Census. He died at Townhead Farm on 7 July 1879, age 72.

Mary Anderson, born at Townhead of Greenock Farm, Muirkirk on 10 October 1810.
Mary married Gavin Gemmell (b. Muirkirk, Ayrshire c.1809). They were proclaimed for marriage in the parish of Muirkirk on 15 November 1839.
Mary and Gavin are at Nether Whitehaugh Farm, Muirkirk on the 1841 and 1851 Census. They are at Garpel Farm, Muirkirk on the 1861 and 1871 Census.
Mary, now widowed, is in Glespinside, Douglas, Lanarkshire on the 1881 and 1891 Census. Mary died in Glespinside on 10 February 1895.
James Anderson, born at Townhead of Greenock Farm, Muirkirk on 24 November 1812.
James is in Fort Cumberland, Portsea, Hampshire on the 1841 census, a Soldier in the 72nd Regiment. This is probably the 72nd Regiment, Duke of Albany’s Own Highlanders.
James married Ann Snellgrove (b. Shate Farm, Brixton, Isle of Wight on 25 July 1827), daughter of Daniel Snellgrove and Elizabeth Harding, at St. John’s Church, Carisbrooke, Hampshire on 27 December 1852.
James and Ann are in the Militia Depot, Guildford, Surrey on the 1861 Census. James’s occupation is ‘Militia Staff’.
James died before 1867, as Ann, now widowed, married again that year.
