Archibald and Margaret were proclaimed for marriage in the parish of Portmoak, Kinross-shire on 31 December 1824 and in the parish of Kinglassie, Fife on 14 January 1825.
Many of the 1841 Census records for Fife are missing. Parts of the returns for Markinch were saved, but there is no sign of the family on the 1841 Census.
Margaret is in Coaltown of Balgonie, Markinch, Fife on the 1851 Census, but Archibald does not appear to be present.
There is an Archibald Blackwood working as a Farm Servant at Balbougie Farm near Inverkeithing. He was born in Portmoak, Kinross-shire, and is 42 years old; the wrong parish (but next to Orwell) and 12 years too young. However, there is no match for him on the 1861 Census.
Archibald, now widowed, is at Mosside Cottage, Beath, Fife on the 1861 Census. Mosside was on the Old Perth Road, just adjacent to the entrance of what is now Dalbeath Marsh Nature Reserve. His occupation is Cattle Feeder. He is possibly in Crossford Bothy, Dunfermline on the 1871 Census.

Elizabeth died in Silverhole on 30 August 1869, age 37.

Archibald died in Silverhole on 22 January 1911, age 84.

Owen died in Dunfermline in 1909, age 63.

Margaret died in Coveton(?), Markinch, Fife on 12 June 1859, age 60.
Archibald died in Dunfermline Hospital on 1 December 1884. His death record gives his age as 70, but he would have been around 87 years old.
