Donald Sinclair, born in Dail, South Knapdale, Argyll and baptised on 5 January 1811, son of Duncan Sinclair and Catherine Baxter.

Ann Hartford, born in Campbeltown, Argyll c.1824, daughter of Peter Hartford and Mary Swan or Sweeney.

Ann is also known as Rosanna, or variations thereof.

Ann married Alexander Frood (b. Cambusnethan, Lanarkshire on 18 May 1836), son of John Frood and Mary McIlquham, in Kirkton, Blantyre, Lanarkshire on 10 December 1868.

Ann and Alexander are at Cartside Farm on the 1871 Census and at East End Farm, East Kilbride, Lanarkshire on the 1881 and 1891 Census.

On the 1901 Census, Alexander is at Duntiglennan Farm, Old Kilpatrick, Dunbartonshire and Ann is at East End Farm.

Alexander and Ann are at East End Farm on the 1911 Census.

Ann died at East End Farm on 21 February 1915, age 71.

Alexander died at 6 Kilmailing Road, Cathcart on 17 March 1918, age 81.

Catherine Sinclair, born in Bothwell, Lanarkshire c.1845.

Catherine is in Carlisle Road, Chapelhall on the 1851 Census. She is possibly at Glenavon Farm, Stonehouse, Lanarkshire on the 1861 Census, employed as a Domestic Servant.

Catherine married John Turnbull (b. Ireland c.1844), Iron Moulder, son of Thomas Turnbull and Margaret Kilpatrick, at 2 Hamilton Drive, Partick, Lanarkshire on 31 December 1867.

Catherine and John are in Barony, Lanarkshire on the 1871 Census and at 781 Garscube Road, Glasgow on the 1881 Census.

Catherine died at 47 Raeberry Street, Glasgow on 25 August 1890, age 45.

John married again, to Jane Cowan (b. Glasgow on 22 May 1858), daughter of John Cowan and Agnes Crawford, in Blythswood, Glasgow c.1900.

John and Jane are at 818 Garscube Road on the 1901 Census.

Peter Sinclair, born in Bothwell, Lanarkshire c.1848.

Peter is occasionally mentioned as having the middle name of Hartford.

Peter is in Carlisle Road, Chapelhall on the 1851 Census.

Peter married Ann Paterson (b. Coatbridge, Lanarkshire on 26 May 1851), daughter of John Paterson and Ann Muir, at 35 Cameron Street, Glasgow on 17 June 1870.

Peter and Ann are in Parish Road, Calderbank, Lanarkshire on the 1871 Census, at 9 Colebrooke Street, Cambuslang on the 1881 Census, at 2 Tullisvale Place, Bothwell, Lanarkshire on the 1891 Census and at 5 Wood Street, Springburn, Lanarkshire on the 1901 Census. Peter’s occupation is initially a Roller in a Steel Mill, but he worked his way up to becoming a Steel Mill manager.

Peter later lived at 95 Shirebrook Road, Heeley, Sheffield prior to his death in Sheffield Royal Infirmary on 10 November 1921, age 73.

Elizabeth Sinclair, born in Calderbank, Lanarkshire c.1851.

Elizabeth is at 17 Montgomery Street, Glasgow on the 1871 Census.

Elizabeth married William Lewis (b. Ireland c.1851), Cork Cutter, son of William John Lewis and Jane McKnight, at 9 Cameron Street, Glasgow, Lanarkshire on 31 October 1871. Elizabeth at that time was employed as a Winder in a Cotton Power Loom Factory.

Elizabeth and William are at 261 Paisley Road, Kinning Park, Glasgow on the 1881 Census.

Elizabeth and William emigrated to Australia, arriving in Sydney on board the John Elder in July 1884. William’s occupation is given as Farmer.

William died in Kogarah, New South Wales on 17 June 1887, age 36.

Elizabeth married again, to Alexander Morton (b. Shettleston, Lanarkshire c.1848), son of Thomas Morton and Marion Brown, in St. Peters, New South Wales some time in 1888.

Alexander died in Penshurst, New South Wales on 21 March 1923, age 75.

Elizabeth died in Penshurst on 3 March 1931, age 80.

Donald emigrated to New Zealand in the early 1870s, where he married Mary Stark Ure (b. Otago, New Zealand on 18 August 1859), daughter of James Ure and Elizabeth Mary Street, some time in 1878.

Donald died at Nightcaps, Southland, New Zealand on 9 May 1926, age 73.

Mary died in Gore, Southland on 17 May 1954, age 94.

ANN HARTFORD – SECOND MARRIAGE

Donald Sinclair died in 1853, according to his mother’s death record.

Ann married again, to Alexander Richardson (b. Moffat, Dumfries-shire c.1825), Foundry Labourer, son of John Richardson and Jane Scott, at 18 Newhall Terrace, Glasgow on 26 September 1862. Ann and Alexander were both living at 7 Charles Street, Glasgow at the time.

Ann and Alexander are at 17 Montgomery Street, Glasgow on the 1871 Census.

Alexander died at 17 Montgomery Street on 15 August 1873.

Ann, now widowed, is at 82 Bernard Street, Glasgow on the 1881 Census, at 77 Bernard Street on the 1891 Census and at 23 Queen Mary Street, Glasgow on the 1901 Census.

Ann and Alexander had two children:

Jane Richardson, born Calderbank, Lanarkshire on 26 March 1857.

Jane is at 17 Montgomery Street on the 1871 Census and at 82 Bernard Street on the 1881 Census, where she has a three year old daughter, Annie Wilson. Records indicate that a Jane Richardson married John Wilson in Hutchesontown, Lanarkshire in 1877.

John Richardson, born Bridgeton, Glasgow on 23 October 1862.

John is at 17 Montgomery Street on the 1871 Census and at 82 Bernard Street on the 1881 Census.

John emigrated to Australia, where he married Margaret Morton (b.c.1858) in St. Peters, New South Wales some time in 1887.

John was at one time Moderator of the Presbytery of Sydney.

Margaret died at 6a Coranto Street, Abbotsford, Sydney on 21 July 1934, age 76.

John died in Sydney on 15 November 1958, age 96.
