James and Margaret were married at Blackside Farm, Sorn on 25 November 1870.

Ann died at Rigg Farm on 7 January 1919, age 47.

William died at Rigg Farm on 19 February 1930, age 58.

James Weir Dickie, born at Rutheran Farm on 15 January 1873.

James married Mary Samson Gibson (b. Kilmarnock, Ayrshire c.1874), daughter of James Gibson, Ironfounder, and Mary Samson, at the Windsor Hotel, Glasgow on 11 January 1911. James at that time was at Ardlamy Farm, Gigha.

Mary died in Strathmore Hospital, Rattray, Perthshire on 29 May 1958, age 84. Her usual address is Kirkhill, Meigle, Perthshire.

James died at 65 Kirk Street, Strathaven on 30 September 1961, age 88.

Jane Dickie, born at Rutheran Farm on 9 June 1874.

Jane died at Rutheran Farm on 28 January 1876, age 19 months.

Thomas Watt Dickie, born at Rutheran Farm on 30 March 1876.

Thomas is at Rutheran Farm on the 1881, 1891 and 1901 Census.

Thomas married Annie Wilson (b.c.1882) of Easter Highgate Farm, Beith, Ayrshire, daughter of James Wilson and Annie Carlyle, at 102 West Nile Street, Glasgow on 24 November 1903. Thomas’s occupation is Dairyman and his address is 14 Mordaunt Street, Glasgow.

Thomas died in Lagavulin, Kildalton, Argyll on 12 August 1944. age 68.

Francis Dickie, born at Rutheran Farm on 24 June 1878.

Francis is at Rutheran Farm on the 1881, 1891 and 1901 Census.

Francis married Christina Hay Craig (b. Cambuslang, Lanarkshire c.1875), a Dairymaid at Over Letham Farm, Avondale, Lanarkshire, daughter of William Craig and Mary Boyd, at Langlands House Farm House, East Kilbride, Lanarkshire on 8 June 1909.

Francis died at Homestead Farm, Hamilton, Lanarkshire on 8 April 1952, age 73.

Christina died on 18 October 1953, age 78.

Margaret married William Henderson (b. Hamilton, Lanarkshire on 12 May 1871) of Townhill Farm, Hamilton, son of John Henderson and Jane Boyd, at Rutheran Farm on 25 April 1907.

Margaret died at Townhill Farm on 1 May 1963, age 83.

Gavin Dickie, born at Rutheran Farm on 25 April 1882

Gavin is at Rutheran Farm on the 1891 Census, and is in Wiseman’s Buildings, Strathaven, Lanarkshire on the 1901 Census, employed as a Butcher’s Assistant.

In 1907 he is possibly at 17 Mordaunt Street, Glasgow, employed as a Butcher.

Gavin emigrated to Canada. He married Nettie Avis Soule (b. Manchester, Hillsborough, New Hampshire c.1886), daughter of Charles Edward Soule and Margaret Reid, in Christchurch, Vancouver, British Columbia on 1 January 1914.

Nettie died in Vancouver on 24 January 1919, age 33.

Gavin returned to Scotland at some point; in July 1921 his last known address was given as Gloag Farm, Methven, Perthshire before he sailed to New York. Gloag Farm was his brother-in-law’s farm, see Jane Dickie, below.

Gavin married again, to Agnes Hamilton Allan (b. Glassford, Lanarkshire on 3 January 1890), daughter of Andrew Allan and Mary Watt, in Rosemount Presbyterian Church, Montreal on 7 July 1924.

Agnes died at 1660 Wyandotte Street East, Windsor, Ontario on 23 March 1945, age 55.

Gavin was at 942 Howard Avenue, Windsor, Ontario in 1968.

Gavin died in Detroit General Hospital, Michigan on 6 January 1970, age 87.

Jane Dickie, born at Rutheran Farm on 8 April 1884.

Jane is at Rutheran Farm on the 1891 and 1901 Census and at Ardlamy Farm, Gigha on the 1911 Census.

Jane married George Laurie Brown (b. Milton, Glasgow on 24 April 1864) of Gloag Farm, Methven, Perthshire, son of John Brown and Agnes Catherine Patrick, at Townhill Farm, Hamilton, Lanarkshire on 11 October 1912.

George died in Perthshire, possibly at Gloag Farm, on 31 May 1949, age 85.

Jane died in the Station Hotel, Perth on 27 July 1954, age 70. Her usual address is 8 Marshall Place, Perth.

DEATHS

James died at Allan Cottage, Strathaven, Lanarkshire on 23 October 1912, age 76.

Allan Cottage is possibly in nearby Chapelton, rather than in Strathaven.

Margaret died at Townhill Farm, Hamilton, Lanarkshire on 27 February 1933, age 93.
