William Jamieson – Margaret Martinholm
William Jamieson, born c.1741. His parent’s names and his place of birth are unknown.
There is a William Jamieson born in Crawford & Leadhills, Lanarkshire on 11 October 1741, son of William Jamieson and Helen Scott. Helen ties in with the name of one of William and Margaret’s daughters.
Margaret Martinholm‘s parents and place and date of birth are unknown.
Frustratingly, there are two Margaret Martinholms on the Old Parish Registers, both born in Avondale within two years of each other. In typical Avondale OPR fashion, only the fathers’ names are mentioned, one of which is Gavin Martinholm, which is a good match for William and Margaret’s eldest son. If this is the above Margaret Martinholm then she was born in Avondale on 16 September 1753. The place of birth is unclear but looks like ‘Causeyhead’, a location I haven’t been able to track down.
William and Margaret were proclaimed for marriage in the parish of Avondale on 5 December 1776.
